The proposed research is a systematic study involving mapping and ethnography of five of Shahjahanabad’s mohallas – to reveal their stories, their misaal. This study intends to study indigenous urbanism and how local knowledge may be dynamically incorporated in the production of the city. The research attempts to study the cybernetic relationship between people and spaces using the combined frameworks of complex adaptive systems (Lansing, 2003) and social-ecological systems (Ostrom, 2009, 2010).
