While India is traversing the urban trajectory and the notion of New India or India 2.0 is slowly turning into a reality, our cities are unknowingly drifting away from the Indianness of human-scale interaction and social connections that existed in our Chaupals, Chowks and Galis being replaced by gigantic air-conditioned malls and commercial spaces. The community center at Basant Lok, Vasant Vihar was planned to serve as the recreational hub across the city is gradually turning to a dead and gloomy spot and sometimes acting as a negative point for anti-social elements as well. The Placemaking Initiative at PVR Priya provides an innovative and successful way to transform and reinvent the community center to activate the negative edges, enhance existing infrastructure and create clean, green and healthy the environment thus making community center well-loved and well-used over the time.
