The project seeks to rejuvenate, preserve and develop the existing water bodies in Gurugram as not merely as catalysts of environmental sustainability but also as active urban places of renewing and building socio cultural capital of Gurugram. Overall approach presents a unique model of identifying contextual sustainable solutions to complex urban challenges through exploration, research and participation. The research puts forth a set of practical and doable set of guidelines – for residents, managing authorities, urban planners/practitioners – to preserve and manage urban water bodies sustainably.
Out of 120 odd water bodies in Gurugram, 20 water bodies have the potential to be rejuvenated and developed as an integrated network of channelising and managing water crisis of Gurugram. Future Institute in collaboration with Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has undertaken the urban pond in Basai (sector 9B, Gurugram) as the first pilot project to establish and demonstrate the principles and practices of preserving and managing urban water bodies sustainably. Also a detailed schematic proposal for Pond in SaraswatiKunj (sector 53, Gurugram) has also been submitted to MCG and shall be taken up after Basai pond. Know more about the live projects a.
